Must have Edward!!!

I purchased Twilight tickets last Tuesday to see what all the hype of Twilight was about. Orly didn't have a choice in the matter. He was going regardless. I purchased the tickets at the Alamo Drafthouse for the last showing which also happened to be "vampire prom" night. It was very cool! People here in Austin always amaze me. After watching the movie, I had to read the books. Orly bought me the first book the next day and I read it that night while waiting for my cheesecake to rise in the oven. I bought the rest of the books yesterday and finished the second book last night. I think I'm obsessed with Edward. I think he plays on almost every woman's emotions. He's too perfect. He's also troubled and flawed which makes him even more delicious. After reading the first two books I think they choose Edward Cullen perfectly for the movie. I can't complain about Bella, either. She could be a better actress. There's a few scenes in it where I'm kinda not "feeling it". You definitely feel the tension between them though that you feel when you read the books.

Any who, 2 books in 2 days. I just started the third one a bit ago and hopefully I'll be able to put it down. I don't think I can last staying up till 2 in the morning much longer. Maddox wakes up every morning at 5:30-6:00 o'clock. It's killing me. I also don't want to finish the books too soon. I don't know what I'll do when I'm done with them. I may go into some deep depression much like Bella did when Edward left her. It can't be that bad. Can it?

Any suggestions for my next series of books to read that will distract me from the Cullens?

More Trouble...

Wednesday night I go home after working all day long to start my Thanksgiving meal for the next day. I quickly changed into my pj's, went downstairs, turned on the TV...and then NOTHING. The TV didn't turn on.

As a cell phone person, I tried troubleshooting. I unplugged it, replugged it, gave the remote a reset, checked the wiring all to no avail. Gave Samsung a ring which they also gave a try and again the picture to the plasma was black. No sound, just a black screen. I was very upset for obvious reasons. I can't live without TV. Orly can, he just flips on the radio. I'm not a radio person (unless it's my Howard), I'm a TV person. I mean crap, I can't even play the Wii. WTF?!! So I baked and cooked in silence until I couldn't stand the silence any longer- Orly was out with Dawn and Matt and the kids were in bed- so I finally turned on the radio. I wasn't pleased.

I purchased some sort of "accident protection plan" so I may just have to accidentally drop it. I want a new one. Freaking plasma. We've only had it 2 yrs. Is this normal?!! My crappy TVs from walmart and garage sales are still alive and kicking yet our $1500 dollar plasma is dead. BTW- It gave us no indication that it was on it's way out. No lines through the screen, nothing of the sort.

Maybe it was best that way. I would have felt guilt had I ignored the signs of an ill TV.

Not a good day at all....

I crashed Orly's truck. He's had it since June and I wrecked the poor thing. I feel bad especially since I NEVER EVER drive his truck but I did on Sunday. My brakes have been squeaking and he was going to take my jeep in to be seen so I took his truck. It was raining in the morning and the streets were still slick. There's a slight curve in the road on Westgate near William Cannon. I turned the wheel slightly and the bed of the truck started fishtailing. I let go of the steering wheel for it to correct itself thinking, "how embarrassing". Before I knew it, the front wheels started to skid and loose control. I took the wheel and it was too late. The truck was all over the place. It's a weird feeling to be in mid crash. You really feel as if it's all in slow motion but to this day I cannot remember some of the crash. The truck seemed to be flying and I could hear the tires skidding out of control. Orly's very messy car had debris flying all over the truck. Next thing I see is the wall of dirt and grass leading to Westgate Lanes. The truck hit the embankment and I landed -I say landed because the truck was in the air for a few seconds- on the SIDEWALK facing south bound on Westgate when I started out going north bound on westgate in the right lane. The lady in a truck behind me stopped her truck and checked to see if I was okay. A couple of guys stayed behind as well to make sure I was okay until the help arrived.

I hurt my neck a bit as well as my chest near my shoulder. I suspect it's from the seat belt. BTW- I'm completely convinced I would have hit the glass If I wasn't wearing it.
Orly's truck was sent to the shop this morning and hopefully they can fix it. There wasn't really much damage to the body but the axles are broken. One of the tires completely snapped off of the truck. All of the tires are damaged as well as rims. There's possibly damage to his transmission as there were a lot of leaked fluids. Until then, he's going to be driving around in his clown car - a Chevy Cobalt-.

Michael Vick is a horrific person

Sick Vick's New Dog Trick
Posted Nov 22nd 2008 10:48AM by TMZ Staff
Looks like Michael Vick is a lot more disturbed than anyone could have imagined. In just released report, a person identified as confidential witness No. 1 says Vick actually placed family pets in the ring against pit bulls owned by "Bad Newz Kennels" and watched as the animals ruthlessly attacked the domesticated dogs causing "major injuries."The witness went on to say that Vick "thought it was funny to watch the pit bull dogs injure or kill the other dogs."A convicted co-defendant in the case said there were times he suggested dogs unwilling to fight be let go, but Vick insisted "they got to go," meaning they need to be killed.Vick was sentenced to 23 months in prison in Dec. 2007, and is set to be released from the federal prison at Leavenworth, Kan., on July 20, 2009.

My first reaction was utter disgust and then anger after reading this TMZ post. I'm furious at this inhumane person. How can someone who knows what pain feels like do this to an animal? How can you possibly live with yourself? I seriously think he should get life without parole or if he were in Texas, death by lethal injection. Either way, he's getting off easy. I'm glad he lost all his money. I'm happy his life is in the shitter. I hope he rots in jail and never sees the light of day. It's despicable and horrid what he was up to. Not only that but the fact that people knew about this and never said anything. Those people are just as guilty as he. As if killing dogs is considered OK because they aren't people. Killing is killing. He's a serial killer. Fame, money, success, all down the drain because he's a sociopath.

Thanksgiving!!

Thanksgiving at our house is usually going over to someone else's house and eating their food and bringing their leftovers home. This year we nixed that idea and instead opted for a Thanksgiving at our house. Huge for me because I don't really cook all that much (IE: 2 -3 days a week. Blame my job). Luckily I can read and follow directions so as long as i follow a recipe my food comes out pretty darn good. There will be studying involved beforehand. Dana introduced me to a few of her favorite recipe blogs. I'm going to attempt a Pioneer Woman Thanksgiving. If you click on her link and look up "Thanksgiving" I'm pretty much going to attempt about 70% of whats on her Thanksgiving recipe list. Am I crazy? A tad. I hope it all doesn't go to hell in a hand basket. I'm not insane though. Even I know my weaknesses. I ordered the turkey from Rudy's BBQ. I don't want to poison anyone and I'm not that gal who can pull off a turkey on her first shot. I think turkey making has to be introduced to you when you're young. Unforch, that was never done and I'm certainly not going to attempt it at almost 30 years of age. Perhaps one day when I make my list of things I've never done, a turkey will be on that list. Until then, Rudy's here I come!

My attempts are:

pumpkin and apple pie (pie crust from scratch)

mashed potatoes (from SCRATCH!!)

sweet potatoes (I'm not a fan but she swears her recipe will change me...we'll see)

stuffing (again, from scratch!)

corn and wild rice

whiskey glazed carrots (yes, whiskey) :-)

"Spanish" green beans (wtf makes them Spanish? the cayenne?)

dinner rolls (you guessed it...from scratch!)

Hopefully I don't poison anyone and everything turns out delish. If it doesn't at least we'll have the smoked turkey.

I need more counter space, I think. :(

BRRRR!!!

It's 42 degrees and I love it! I love being able to turn on the heater and wear sweatpants. Maybe I just like sweatpants. I think I love the weather because it reminds me of the Holiday Season coming up. We've been in our house now for over 2 years and we've never used our fireplace. For shame. I shall put that on my "to do" list.

I went to Ikea on Veterans Day and got a kitchen table for 60 bucks! It was a special deal and only had a limited supply. I love deals! Our old one was, old. It's had it's time and now it's time to go to Goodwill. The kitchen table from Ikea is pretty basic but i'm not going to invest any real money into new furniture until Maddox gets older. I'd really love to get rid of my couches but there's no point really. So for now, my couches will remain a napkin for dirty hands.

Orly went out of town on Friday and will be coming back tomorrow afternoon. He ended up going down to the Valley while being sick. I'm pretty glad he's down there. The last thing I need is sickness in this house. I kind of miss him. Kind of. ;)
