Old 97's

Kelly and I went to La Zona Rosa to see this band. They were really good. I enjoyed them. We were about 4 rows from the front (standing room only) and we were behind the most obnoxiously drunk and annoying couple in Austin. They were "drunk dancing" and knocking into everyone around them. They were playing grab ass and practically making babies in front of a few hundred people. Kelly, my little vegetarian-cupcake lover friend who is a seasoned and experienced show-goer decided that they had bumped in to us one too many times and asked them to move behind us. The guy rudely denied us and continued to bump and grind his very drunk date. About 15 min later after he knocks into us a few MORE times she pushes him away from her. He responds with a fist in her face. He didn't punch her but he would have had there not been any witnesses. Kelly is about 5 feet and pocket sized. He was about 6 feet and a gym rat. He cussed her out and told her if his gf wasn't there he would have punched her in the face. She argued back and actually found it humorous. As for myself, I stood there in shock. Typical of me. His drunk gf/date seemed annoyed that we didn't like them making babies in front of us . As if we paid money to watch them make out or something??

An older gentleman in the crowd near us saw that this roided out prick was about to hit Kelly and he kindly stepped in. The jerk turned around and continued to do act the way he had for the past hour or so. After 20 more minutes him and his girlfriend turned around and stomped on our feet and pushed us out of the way as they made their way out. People around us that witnessed everything were very happy that they left.

What a creep!! Sorry- no pics of him. I keep forgetting to take my digital camera with me.

More Trouble...

Wednesday night I go home after working all day long to start my Thanksgiving meal for the next day. I quickly changed into my pj's, went downstairs, turned on the TV...and then NOTHING. The TV didn't turn on.

As a cell phone person, I tried troubleshooting. I unplugged it, replugged it, gave the remote a reset, checked the wiring all to no avail. Gave Samsung a ring which they also gave a try and again the picture to the plasma was black. No sound, just a black screen. I was very upset for obvious reasons. I can't live without TV. Orly can, he just flips on the radio. I'm not a radio person (unless it's my Howard), I'm a TV person. I mean crap, I can't even play the Wii. WTF?!! So I baked and cooked in silence until I couldn't stand the silence any longer- Orly was out with Dawn and Matt and the kids were in bed- so I finally turned on the radio. I wasn't pleased.

I purchased some sort of "accident protection plan" so I may just have to accidentally drop it. I want a new one. Freaking plasma. We've only had it 2 yrs. Is this normal?!! My crappy TVs from walmart and garage sales are still alive and kicking yet our $1500 dollar plasma is dead. BTW- It gave us no indication that it was on it's way out. No lines through the screen, nothing of the sort.

Maybe it was best that way. I would have felt guilt had I ignored the signs of an ill TV.

Not a good day at all....

I crashed Orly's truck. He's had it since June and I wrecked the poor thing. I feel bad especially since I NEVER EVER drive his truck but I did on Sunday. My brakes have been squeaking and he was going to take my jeep in to be seen so I took his truck. It was raining in the morning and the streets were still slick. There's a slight curve in the road on Westgate near William Cannon. I turned the wheel slightly and the bed of the truck started fishtailing. I let go of the steering wheel for it to correct itself thinking, "how embarrassing". Before I knew it, the front wheels started to skid and loose control. I took the wheel and it was too late. The truck was all over the place. It's a weird feeling to be in mid crash. You really feel as if it's all in slow motion but to this day I cannot remember some of the crash. The truck seemed to be flying and I could hear the tires skidding out of control. Orly's very messy car had debris flying all over the truck. Next thing I see is the wall of dirt and grass leading to Westgate Lanes. The truck hit the embankment and I landed -I say landed because the truck was in the air for a few seconds- on the SIDEWALK facing south bound on Westgate when I started out going north bound on westgate in the right lane. The lady in a truck behind me stopped her truck and checked to see if I was okay. A couple of guys stayed behind as well to make sure I was okay until the help arrived.

I hurt my neck a bit as well as my chest near my shoulder. I suspect it's from the seat belt. BTW- I'm completely convinced I would have hit the glass If I wasn't wearing it.
Orly's truck was sent to the shop this morning and hopefully they can fix it. There wasn't really much damage to the body but the axles are broken. One of the tires completely snapped off of the truck. All of the tires are damaged as well as rims. There's possibly damage to his transmission as there were a lot of leaked fluids. Until then, he's going to be driving around in his clown car - a Chevy Cobalt-.
