You sneaky cold, you.

I hate that when you suffer from allergies so often it's almost impossible to know the difference between a cold and cedar fever. It all started with a tickle in the back of my throat on Friday, full on cold symptoms on Saturday and a nasty cough on Sunday followed by chest congestion. I hope this doesn't end up being bronchitis. After work yesterday I go home to a house full of sick kids and relatives. That's really when it occurred to me that perhaps my allergies were actually a cold or virus of some sort. Naturally, Orly is immune. Maddox's voice sounds hoarse and Ryan can't sleep comfortably because he can't breathe through his nose. Oh, and they BOTH have some really nasty green mucus that flies out every time they sneeze. If I have to know about it, you all do too. All I want to do is OD on NyQuil and sleep my cold away. I also want soup. Lots and lots of soup. Too bad this low carb diet doesn't allow soups. Eating meat or vegetables doesn't sound as comforting as a big bowl of chicken noodle soup or tomato soup.

I must resist! I've been really good and cheat free for almost a month now. I'm doing my best by limiting my carb intake by no more than 30 grams of carbohydrates a day. 20 grams are ideal but virtually impossible if you have no time to prepare all of your meals beforehand. I did this diet a few years back and lost a ton of weight on it. I'm hoping to the same this time around. I also need to get back into the gym. My eating habits are only half of my weight problems. My lack of activity is also to my detriment. I'm a carb addict and I could solely live on rice, pasta and bread. No joke. The cravings are almost 95% gone and I feel really good. I'm eating a ton of eggs and a lot of vegetables. I also survive on low carb tortillas. I seriously don't know what I'd do without them. They are around 5g of carbs per tortilla so I have to limit my intake on those. I have even considered taking them with me when we go out to eat. Then I realized that would be weird and I refrain myself from doing so. I could only imagine the look of horror on Orly's face if he saw me whip out my low carb tortillas out of my purse at a restaurant. He's been really great about my diet too. He's been asking questions about what I can eat and what I can't eat. He's not eating cupcakes or Whataburger in front of me while I'm picking on my salad. I think he fears for his life. The thing I've grown to understand with this diet is that I must not skip meals. If I get hungry, I usually look for the first thing to satisfy my appetite and that was when I would cheat. Now, I keep peanuts and low carb snack bars around for those snack cravings. Also, Coke zeros and sprite zero's RULE! Maybe I've been drinking them for too long or something but I seriously think they taste just like the real thing. They also pair very well with alcohol. :)
